I’ve been a student under Professor Joshua since Fall 2024 and began coaching in Fall 2025. I’m also a father of three awesome kids, and training together as a family is one of the most meaningful parts of our journey. This art gives children far more than a skillset — it teaches them confidence, discipline, and how to stay composed under pressure. That’s why we all train under Professor Joshua.
I first trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in my twenties for over five years, and that early experience gave me valuable perspective on the different ideologies within the art. Many schools lean heavily into the sport and competition side of BJJ, while Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu stays rooted in the original purpose of the art: self defense. That distinction matters to me, and it’s a big part of why I’m here.
Coaching has become one of the most important and rewarding parts of my journey. I get to help students build technical skill, develop discipline, and — most importantly — experience stress inoculation. Learning to think clearly and stay composed in high pressure moments can change the outcome of real world situations, and I take pride in helping students grow in that way.
I’m grateful for every class, every breakthrough, and every “ah ha” moment I get to witness. And I’m looking forward to many more — along with plenty of laughs along the way.
